A creative and energetic musician, Sheldon has a strong understanding and passion for the dynamics and emotion behind the drums. He is constantly growing as musician in the current Vancouver music scene and thrives in performance, teaching, composing and recording. Some of his musical influences include, Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band), Chad Smith (RHCP), Questlove (The Roots) and Stewart Copeland (The Police).
Sheldon has been surrounded by music his whole life. He started his musical journey as a child, setting up pots and pans around the kitchen smashing wooden spoons to find every possible sound; util running out of spoons. Sheldon went on to attended a percussion program at Berklee School of Music (Boston, MA) when he was sixteen. He studied Jazz and contemporary music at Vancouver Community College School of Music, with Vancouver drum legends Bernie Arai, Craig Scott, and band instructors Laurence Mollerup and Alan Matheson. Performing in bands since twelve, Sheldon is no stranger to the stage. He currently plays in Vancouver based Funk/Rock band Raincity, known for their fearless stage presence, dance grooves and unique sound. |

Raincity has played festivals including Canada Music Week (Toronto), Rifflandia (Victoria), Seattle Hempfest, Vancouver Jazz Festival, and opened for Our Lady Peace and Bif Naked at Surrey Canada Day. They’ve made waves in their local music community winning the Best in Vancouver (2019), the Roxy Launch Project (2018), and the Hard Rock Casino’s Rock the Mic (2018).
In 2019 Raincity released their self titled EP, recorded at Warehouse Studios and funded by the Roxy Launch Project. With help from Creative BC and FACTOR they released their first music video “Give This Up”. Coming soon they have a music video for “Crazy”, and their next single “Insomnia”. Fronted by female leads on saxophone and vocals, their audacious performances are loaded with engaging interplay and explosive energy. The five members of Raincity combine their eclectic influences including Amy Winehouse, Moon Hooch, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, creating a distinctive sound with infectious grooves, chameleon tones, and no regard for boundaries. Each musician is equipped with as much personality as style, leading to a dynamic live experience that is unapologetic and empowering. |
